Hi Greg, Will the new medium gauges affect the setup on an older Stick (without flaps)? Cheers, Andy Hi Andy, If you have heavies on there now, you will probably have to raise the nut screws up just a bit as the thinner strings will ride a little lower in the screw channel, but it shouldn't be more... |

Hey guys! in about a week and a half I am taking a train to Portland Oregon, I will be there a week and I am on the fence about taking my stick along. I went last year and didn't take it and ended up missing it a lot, and while a week has been the longest I've been away from it it did allow me to n... |

Hi Greg, thanks for the reply and great video! Regarding the issue of reaching over the thicker bass strings with the right hand, this mainly affects the thickest two strings, which you don't often want to play together because of the muddiness that can ensue. You do have to be careful (and keep th... |

We now have a true medium string set for our bass in inverted 5ths. In the past, we've chosen to use the two lowest strings from the heavy set for our mediums because they were the best sounding and best feeling strings for those positions and pitches that I could find. Recently though, we've had s... |

Can I suggest another category for this list (partly based on something I mentioned earlier in the thread)? Some people may look down on it a bit, but I suspect that there are a lot of stick players in this position: - Do I mainly take the role of the Bass player in a band? When I considered switch... |

Just when you thought this thread was dead... I'm sure I'll live to regret this but I thought I'd have a go at recording something as promised. The quality (recording and playing) is not great but at least it may give the gist. Apologies also for the vocals, but it's a bit empty without them... Any... |
