I have the H4n and although it is handy, I prefer my studio setup. I use a Rode NT1A with a Behringer Mic-100 tube pre-amp. With this setup, it can even pick up the sound of me scratching my head. http://www.rode.com/microphones/nt1-a https://www.behringer.com/product.html?modelCode=P0207 I also ha... |

If you did manage to clip the input stage of these devices with a hot enough signal, it would be “baked in” to the audio data, and reducing the volume later wouldn’t remove the clipping. Hi, Rob! I can verify with experiments over the weekend using my Scarlett 2i2 interface and "32-bit float&q... |

Background info: https://www.sounddevices.com/32-bit-float-files-explained/ I was talking to my Sweetwater "engineer" who is extremely knowledgeable and a progrock/jazz musician guitar player. I was interested in getting a stand-alone digital recording device (I eventually got the Zoom H4n... |

Hey Stephen! I know I come across strong with my ideas from time to time and your post is totally taken in the spirit that it's given, dear bruv. So good to hear from Emmett, hey?! When he said repeated notes within a chord and staccato that made perfect sense. I guess I could've made my comments c... |

If a guitar player asks why your thumb is behind the neck, just say "same reason yours should be". Glenn, isn't Steve talking about his RIGHT hand being behind the neck? Because he holds it with two hands, one on each side, unlike a guitar player. Of course, like guitar, his left thumb wo... |

It's because of the human nervous system. If you use 2 fingers to play repeated notes on the same string you can have the next finger moving on its way to strike the string while your other finger is beginning to lift. Once you get good you can time it so that there's almost no delay between them. ... |

Welcome, factorplayer! Honestly many folk are talking of Greg's hand movement dvd as central to their technique and fluency. It helps avoid the typewriter method of playing. On a personal note, I made myself a promise over ten years ago to never play repeated notes with the same finger. I've pretty ... |

Just a point of fact that certain frets just don't get played as often. Not that you dismiss them, but like any other instrument, there are sweet spots physically and sonically. I would guesstimate that 90% of all.piano music is in the middle 2/3 of the keyboard. On guitar. Learning frets 1-12 is m... |
