Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was a kind of warning to people who do music to be fussy about their identity lest they end up playing like the lame-o below; I'm thinking that Lukather was probably talking about people who do a variation on Eruption's tapping section; most everyone tries it without playing...

I think that the prevailing attitude surrounding the instrument is one where that in order to be even considered mediocre, you need to pretty much have mastered it. I would not feel comfortable "daring" to share a score of a tune I created, even if I DID work my ass off on it, and play it ...
