I'm hitting a bit over day 250 with my first Stick (wooden Rosewood 10-string), and day 137 on the Railboard. Learning was easier on the Rosewood, because I stickered and taped it all up, and because the frets are just easier to see. Maybe someone from Stick Enterprises can chime in on this, but it'...

Awesome! I love this song; well done! You play the melody side two-handed like I do (other way around--I'm playing somewhat like you, since you've been doing it longer!)--I was feeling a bit self-conscious about it, and watching you play, I had an epiphany! I just need a looper, and do the bass line...

Use some masking tape to protect the finger board, then paint the frets.
Damn smart!

My 13-year old daughter suggested fingernail polish in whatever color. I might have tried that, too, actually, if we'd been clever enough.

I bought a few rolls in various colors and used the black for the black keys, and then used some blue for the Cs but put the blues on perpendicular to the blacks. Andy's idea of the gold racing detail tape sounds good. But as was also said by bassmonk, the tape comes off whenever you don't need it o...

I now carry around inside me the secret knowledge of Jayesskerr's latest song. :ugeek: And by song, it was mainly about the vocals. In some far-off alternate universe, an angel is born in the glorious harmony created by Scott's voice and some pitch-shifting magic. [Swoons...] :o No, I'm messing with...

Here's what the black keys looked like marked out on a 10-string Rosewood in Matched Reciprocal tuning. That doesn't help you see the frets on the Railboard, but they'd always be halfway between adjacent markers. As well as maybe violin tape. But the idea of taping up every fret to give reference seems excessive. You can just put a single small piece on each of the Cs, if you don't want tape all over the place. I'm a keyboard player by background, and I re-created all the black keys on my wooden Stick. I ha...

I appreciate all the good comments, also to Steve S. for what amounts to a most favorable concert review - many thanks. Didn't know I qualified as a "Stick face" but there it is, better than no face at all. Dan's videos are always revealing. I swear I mean "Best Stick Face" as a...
