Not as portable as some of the items listed already, but the headphone amp in the StepABout is very clean, and loud enough to be used in noisy environments like train stations and airports...

Greg has a video demonstrating the different RB sounds. I watched it a while ago, but it may compare the sound of active vs. passive. Watch it and judge if you can hear a difference. each interface is going to give you a different sound quality. Plugging into a high-quality mic pre with XLR via pha...

Neither is "better". I have one of each (haha). BUT...if I knew then, what I know NOW...and I could only choose ONE...and I had tried all the options...I would have gone with a ten-string Grand. And that's only for more room between strings on the bass side. (i am bass-centric). If you ca...

I'm a pro guitarist, and have been intrigued by the Stick for awhile, since Steve Adelson demonstrated one to me at a guitar show. I'm going to get a Chapman Stick, so, should I get a 10 string or a 12 string? Thanks! Bob I don't think there's a right or wrong answer to this question. You'll get a ...

Thanks guys. I think I will try the ART..... inexpensive way to go vs a mixer From my perspective, there are three problems with this solution. 1. you still only have a mic level signal, which doesn't do a good job of driving pedals 2. you are still in XLR land, so you will have to use adapter cabl...

What would you recommend for a phantom power device for the railboard. I was using a cheap mixer. It did the trick, but it also introduced a lot of background noise. Any suggestions?
Will you be going into pedals? The answer really depends on what the next step in your signal path will be.

So.which string set shoul one order.? Standard or hi bass 4th? Hi Boaz, If you are using lights or mediums you can tune a high bass 4th up to the 5th, if you have heavies then it would be a lot of tension on that string and wouldn't play as well for tapping. The other benefit of this is that you ca...

Well, I've made bunches of CDs and videos, many with bass and melody recorded simultaneously, and, unless you are tracking a heavily distorted melody sound, I can't think of a reason to use a noise gate on the tracking side of things. You can always gate things after the fact, and much ore precisely...
