Hi Scott,

Honored to have so many of my tunes presented. And I really dig your interpretations, esp the swing feel on Sangre de Cristo.

In fact, Id say the only thing that hacked my ear was the altered harmony choice for the B section of this tune, but your moving left hand was way cool.

Several people mentioned descending legato play as a challenge, and independence as another, and "equality" of skill between the hands was also mentioned... One simple approach to all of these issues (and a host of others) is to play with your hands instead of just your fingers... What do ...

So the first gig was a typical cocktail party schmoozefest. The perfect opportunity to practice holding a conversation with curious listeners and playing tunes at the same time... This is a good skill to have if you plan on playing this instrument in public ;) The second was over very quickly, but q...

This stick is available at the moment but Id like to have the option to invert the strings on the base side . I know its not optimal but the splay dosnt seem that severe and is only at the bridge end (is at right angles at the nut) Also in regards to the tension/ scale lenth ratio should that accou...

I have three performances tomorrow night... this has required a lot of logistical planning, each has to have its own sound system, two of which are already set up and ready to go. The first two gigs are part of the kickoff celebration for U. Va's Bicentennial Celebration. First I'll be playing a rec...

It seems like some belt-hook positions work better than others for getting to the truss. However you are supporting the instrument, the one thing you want to avoid is having to "support " the instrument with the thumb. It should be necessary to do this. I fouls the Lap Dawg was pretty nice...

Good one, Dan. Had to be coffee that night (wouldn't do that now). Thanks for being there so often in those early days with camera in hand and graphic art skills. And thanks for rediscovering those negs at the most opportune time. Greg got the ball rolling on this project and saw it through from st...

I prefer piano benches, because I like to rest the belthook on the front of the chair, and the rounded front is not as good as the square front.
