Geert! I loved this. The composition was well done and the playing spot on. The tone of the Railboard just shines through. Nothing else sounds like it. Listening again: at the 3-minute mark, we kick it up a notch and go to the change. Nice. Ah, then some fuzz/distortion on the melody side. And then ...

Well, the U.S. government has shut down and I am to be furloughed tomorrow. This is the 3rd time in my 14-year career as a Federal Worker. The last time in 2013, I was off for about 10 days and I spent all that time in the studio. i spent each day working on tunes, regardless if the Muse had struck,...

That's a pretty cool technique. I can see the possibilities of something like that, and obviously with the blues. Blues guitarists love to slide all sorts of stuff over strings.

I'll have to go through the wife's sewing drawer this weekend and steal a thimble and try it out. Looks fun!

https://youtu.be/tvusBpj7ke8 For some reason, the video recorded on the iPhone moves slightly faster than the audio recorded in the pc and the video from the other cameras, thus making it impossible to have perfect sync between audio and all the footage. Have to correct it constantly and still does...

I saw on Facebook and commented: Awesome, Josh! George Winston's Seasons series for piano came to mind. And don't the Inuit have like 42 different names for snow? You could do a whole series! ;) Ben Levin's got this video where he's at the keyboard, and randomly lets his hands fall, two notes in the...

Good stuff Steve, i may take you up on that assignment Excellent, Josh! Sorry for my Wall of Words! There were many good suggestions that other people had, and I don't mean to drown out any other excellent suggestions. Godsmonkey's advice here is golden, IMHO. I live by this work ethic, absolutely....

I'm in a bit of a writing slump right now. You know the type, where every note you play is just the worst possible note you could have played, except for the one immediately following it. Help a guy break out of this stuff and throw your favorite composition techniques my way. Thanks! Josh, I have ...
