Seems to be a useful gadget! Over here I'm using the Ableton Push a lot and I love the ability to switch the grid to match all kind of scales. It doesn't make sense to memorize scale positions on a rubber pads grid, like for example on an EWI. My EWI is more like a saxophone; every new scale opens u...

Do you have a lead sheet that shows the chord progression along with the melody that is stick friendly? No, I'm afraid not. But the chord progression is rather simple; just the three common minor chords. Like (if assuming the key B minor) for example: B minor, F#minor, E minor. Then play the melodi...

I love the tone of my Bamboo SG-12 with the new strings. I'm tuning a half note lower than the SE recommendation for MR and I use a bit thicker strings than the SE heavy set. And I play only on the neck pickups and with the thinnest, non-boosting, filter knob setting of the PASV-4. I may like my fat...

Can we dream about an SG-12 Railboard? The shorter scale will help with the extra weight of aluminum board a lot.
(Oh, and if one can dream, let's make it headless for even more travel-friendliness).

Oh my Gosh!!! :-)

What about a vocal processor, like the TC Helicon units. They have phantom power and XLR inputs, though I don't know how they would sound, nor if they would do a good job processing polyphonic signals. I have a VocaLive#2 here that I love for flute and cello. But for Stick I'm not so keen on it bec...

Good post! Yes, it is essential to tune by ear and matching whatever you intend to play as well as the string tension and string height intonation. I've learned this by praxis as a studio musician. Listen and tune *in place*.

I'm very happy with my bamboo 12 Grand! This hybrid wood ages with musicality, sounding better for every year. And it's not too heavy. Almost the same weight as my Wenge SG12. If I can ever afford it I would love a 12-str RailBoard though. And I would really like it with a 32" scale rather than...

Nice melody side tone, just the right amount of distortion IMHO, and nice playing and general vibe. For some reason it makes the back of my brain recapture the Yes' Tales from Topographic Oceans. But Howe used a Telecaster with volume pedal - I assume - so maybe it's just that Dorian scale climbing ...

I use a Strymon Big Sky reverb pedal for summing of my two analog signal chains. Important is to activate the Strymon's "amp sim" algorithm. This is a true stereo effect so the direct signal of the melody and the direct signal of the bass side go hard panned, so if you plan to spread a wid...
